Perched on a cliff, this breathtaking retreat offers
views that stretch for miles over the famous oxbow bend of the mighty
Ohio River. Surrounded by dozens of private acres, including a stocked
pond and hundreds of unique rock formations, the Lodge nestles
harmoniously against the backdrop of the Hoosier National Forest,
offering a seamless connection with nature. It's a place where the world
feels like your backyard. At sundown, the beauty of the sky is
indescribable, with the Milky Way's ribbon visible on most nights.
Designed to accommodate both large parties and smaller groups, the Lodge features 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and a special "Bunk Room" in the finished basement. This room houses 3 triple bunk beds, capable of sleeping 16 to 20 guests, making it an ideal space for families or as a dedicated kids' zone.
Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, a hot tub, and a spacious wrap-around porch for relaxation and enjoyment. In our commitment to ensuring everyone can experience this retreat, the Lodge is fully accessible, equipped with a ramp and a roll-in shower on the first floor to assist those with mobility challenges.

About Us
Most places on AirBNB don’t have a web page or any extra information. In fact, the basic short term rental property setup is a few pictures and a paragraph on a booking site. There is a good reason for that. When you have an extra place to rent, you generally want it to be as simple and hassle free as possible. A friend of ours used to call it “Mailbox Money.” The short answer is that we do not believe that this is a basic short-term rental property.
Why don't we? I’ll give you a short version and a long version.
The short version is that we see more here than a rental home. It means the world to us, and there is a mission behind it. We want other people to see what we see and experience what we experience. The world has gotten a little, well, weird of late, and when we spend time at this place, we tend to forget about all of that for a little while. The "weird" doesn’t go away just because we go to the Lodge, of course, but a couple of days in the woods does send the butterflies in the stomach on their way for a time. Do you know what that is like? Do you want to?
The long version is truly a long version, as it is the history of how we came to be in possession of such a place, what the mission is, and what we plan to do next. If you truly want that much detail, it is in our Bookstack here.
Lodge Features
There are two security cameras located on the outside of the lodge. The first is located on the South East corner and monitors the ramp, southern approach, and a portion of the front yard. The second is located on the opposite North West Corner, monitoring the driveway, utilities, path to the back of the property, and a portion of the back yard. As the location is fairly remote, and the Hoosier National Forest is public, it is important for us to maintain security when the Lodge is not occupied.
For stargazing, campfires, or other activities where the accompanying spotlights may interfere with your enjoyment, we have included the ability to switch off the lights to eliminate light pollution. If you are planning private activities within the line of sight of one of the cameras and prefer privacy during the time of that activity, please let us know and we will turn off the camera as well and send verification that it has been disabled prior to the time of your scheduled activity.
Inside, each floor has independent temperature sensors that do not monitor guests in any way. There are motion sensors only in locked restricted areas such as supply closets and owner areas. These areas are easy to recognize, as they are locked with keypad locks.
Unless requested by a guest, we prefer to use electronic ingress to physical keys. The coded lock is on the side door and an entry code will be provided to guests that will be active from check-in to check-out.
