Your Way

There is often a debate in locations such as this regarding whether guests will prefer the rusticity of the natural beauty and the simplified lifestyle that this can bring, or the convenience of modern technology. We were unable to resolve that debate, so we decided to embrace both.

Your Lodge is fully equipped as a smart home, with automation and entertainment options if you desire, but these have also been removed from view as much as possible. This allows guests to determine which option is best for their needs.

Just a cabin in the woods

Guests that want to enjoy the beauty of the Hoosier National Forest, the Lodge, and the view without extra technology, internet, and other modern (some would say distracting) things, you are good to go. Every light switch, thermostat, etc, works exactly the way you expect. The TV gets signal from Louisville. Cell phone coverage is quite spotty, but can usually get a signal from the very top floor. We are loaded down with board games, books, and the wide world is right outside.

What if I’m in the middle?

Again, no worries. You don’t have to go all-in either way. Our goal is to make this what YOU want it to be. Feel free to pick and choose, change your mind, change your mind again, or whatever feels right.

I don’t like to disconnect

No worries! Your lodge is equipped with a fiber connection and has a server running in the basement to keep things as stable as possible in a somewhat challenging technological environment. “Buzz” is your guide, and can be downloaded via QR code. This gives you access to control of lights, climate, in-depth weather, trip planning, and our knowledge base of local activities and interests. Guests can log in to any or all of their personal entertainment accounts such as Netflix or Apple TV, which will be automatically deleted upon checkout.

Accessibility

The Lodge is fully accessible on the first level to wheelchairs, both powered and manual. The side entrance has a concrete slab and ramp for lift-equipped transportation and access. The first floor bedroom suite has a full roll-in shower, accessible toilet, and is ADA compliant.

We take accessibility seriously. One of our founding partners had challenges with mobility, and several family members have spent their professional and personal lives (so far!) in medicine, disability services, and disability advocacy. We have tried to find a balance between making your lodge as accessible to all people as possible while preserving a universal, unmodified feel. If we have missed something, or you feel that your experience would be improved by better accessibility features, please let us know so we can put it in our improvement plan.

Please note: While your lodge cooperates with our efforts to be inclusive, nature sometimes does not. The grounds, especially in wet seasons, can become difficult to navigate for both powered and manual wheelchairs as well as for individuals with unstable gait. We are exploring options for firming up portions of the grounds with more stable pathways, but until this is completed, please be careful and bring a friend. We have had success with renting 4-wheel golf cart or ATV vehicles to traverse soft and muddy ground when there are events or activities at locations on the property that are difficult to access with a wheelchair.
